Why a new privacylaw?
The new privacy legislation (AVG / GDPR) is intended to modernize the existing privacy legislation within Europe. The existing privacy legislation is based on a European “Guideline” and has been introduced differently in the local legislation per country. The new privacy legislation will become generally applicable in all countries of the European Union. The intention is that as a result the same privacy rules apply within Europe as much as possible.
Wat is privacy compliance?
Privacy enforcement relates with the privacy rules/laws that apply to the processing of personal data. Because the concept of personal data is very broad, it actually includes all information about certain people, and (nowadays) almost all communication and data streams electronically, the privacy law applies to almost every organization that operates in the Netherlands. It does not matter whether the persons whose personal data is used has Dutch Nationality themselves.

Prepared for the new privacy legislation?
You can prepare your organization for the new privacy legislation by setting up a “privacy policy”. By “setting up a privacy policy” we mean taking inventory and recordings of the various types of personal data within the organization, taking an inventory of the status of privacy enforcement, taking steps to increase enforcement, making the necessary documents to ensure privacy enforcement support, and the implementation of processes and “privacy awareness” in the organization to ensure that employees within the organization adhere to the privacy rules/laws.
